Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a system of manual therapy that
addresses the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) by manipulating the bones
in the skull, low back (sacrum), and body fascia which surrounds
the internal organs. The CSF is the fluid that surrounds the brain,
and spinal cord, and offers this system protection and shock absorption.
By removing fixations IN these areas, the rate of expansion and
resorption of the CSF becomes more rhythmic and the fluid waves
which are created become more even . When these waves are created,
the spinal nerves, joints, body fascia, muscles, ligaments and
tendons release tension. This often results in a deeply relaxed
state, decreased pain and optimal functioning of the body.
CST is a very gentle form of therapy that has its origins in
Oriental Medicine, India, Egypt and Peru. It is safe for pregnant
women, babies, children, and geriatric patients. It can be helpful
for headaches, migraines, jaw pain, neck and low back pain, chronic
conditions, birth trauma, and wry neck.
