An Early Taste of Spring

An Early Taste of Spring

It seems most of us have had enough of winter at this point. It’s been extremely cold, snowy, wet, messy. And it goes on! However… We’ve got some heart-opening and spirited Spring in bloom already here at Source Centre. Have you been by lately to see the beautiful photography on display by the wonderful and talented Tatyana Xsenya? If not, I invite you over because these photos won’t be up for too much longer. And her gorgeous collection of natural photography from her world travels are just the balm for us right now (short of a visit to these warmer climates!). I’ve spent a couple of months with these images and I’ve been reconsidering which one is my favourite. I thought it was the one titled Athabasca Falls in Morning Light where she captured the beauty and the rush of these majestic falls. Wow! The other day during a Reiki treatment in our ‘Sunshine Room’, however, I found myself mesmerized by an incredible closeup piece of the rib of a Titan Arum. What’s a Titan Arum, you ask? It’s an extraordinary flower that can weigh up to 200lbs and is known to bloom for 24 hours once every decade. Tatyana has provided wonderful descriptions for each room so you can learn more about these exquisite pieces. So come over and take a tour, dive into the colour and the magnificence and escape the winter blues. Oh, and for a really easy going price, you can even take home your favourite piece. That is, if I don’t beat you to it first. 🙂...

The Icy Challenge!

The Icy Challenge!

Feeling sleepy all the time? Lacking energy? In a never-ending low mood? Winter can be really depressing… but maybe only if you want it to be. Coming from a tropical country in December 2011, I landed in Canada for the first time. I got off the airplane and first thought: “Did someone forget to turn off the AC or am I actually outside?” Having never experienced such cold weather before, my first months in this country were really tough both physically and mentally. I became lazy, depressed, and a homebody that was trying to escape the cold as much as she could. I did not want to do anything but stay warm at home. For a while, there were only two things that could get me out: school and work, nothing else! That summer, I spent time in the great outdoors with friends and family. It was so great that it made me realize how much quality time I had wasted sleeping and lazing around. Inspired, I committed to challenge myself and enjoy activities outside for my second winter in Canada. There is still one winter activity I have yet to try: ice-skating! And I am so happy to have my first experience in a few days with Source Centre’s first skating party on Wednesday February 19th at 5:00 pm at Nathan Phillips Square. You are invited; join us for an evening of total fun! Life is too short to be wasted, so let’s get up and make the most of winter! – Astou – Source Centre...

Winter Potluck!

On Tuesday January 21st, Source Centre hosted their first ever Winter Potluck! Although we have had potlucks in the past, this potluck was to celebrate all of the delicious recipes entered in our Winter Recipe Contest throughout the month of January. Everyone who came brought something to try and Source Centre interns helped make each of the recipes posted on our Winter Recipe blogs. Although absolutely everything was delicious, there could only be one winner. Congratulations to intern Osayanmo for her winning Winter Roots Soup inspired by intern Helane’s recipe. Kayla was the runner up, with her Beet and Arugula Salad recipe. Thank you to everyone who attended this event and who helped to make all of the food. We hope to host another one some time in the near future! Sad you missed out? Feel free to visit the Winter Soup Recipe Blog, the Salads and Sides Recipe Blog and the Breakfast and Brunch Recipe Blog for all of the recipes showcased last...

Get into Your Groove with a Clear Day!

Get into Your Groove with a Clear Day!

On Saturday, November 23 we are co-hosting a full day healing intensive event called a Clear Day.  Clear Days are the most transformative and powerful healing events I have ever been a part of and an incredible opportunity to bust through old patterns and step into something new.  Having hosted 7 Clear Days to now, I am still amazed, inspired and thrilled about what happens for people at the event and beyond. Clear Days happen at a location external to our regular office environment.  We spend a full day in a community of like minded, open hearted people focused on healing and growth.  Doing healing work in community is a powerful way to create growth, far faster than we can do one-on-one.  We share both consciously and unconsciously with others in our healing process; just think about how you often get more out of doing a group yoga class, meditation, or exercise. Clear Days are inspired by the work of Dr. Donald Epstein who gave us the wonderful gift of the chiropractic technique called Network Spinal Analysis and the body/breath technique called Somato Respiratory Integration (SRI).  At Clear Days we have 3 “entrainment” sessions interspersed with SRI and other body centered workshops to enhance the process and add to the learning.   An “entrainment” is the word we use for the chiropractic care we provide which is designed to help your body connect and release it’s own tension and generate alignment and self healing.  At the upcoming Clear Day we will have 5 chiropractors working at once during the entrainment session with up to 15 people on the tables at once.  The group effect of doing this entrainment together provides a powerful synergy to help people create healing and learning that is not available day to do in the office. Throughout the day we will go on a journey through the “Seasons of Wellbeing”.  Our first entrainment focuses on the strategies of the season of “Discover”, where we can be authentic with ourselves, learn where we may be running from pain or problems in our lives and we get more connected to our bodies and emotions.  In the second entrainment we embrace the season of “Transform” where we can claim our personal power, commit to making changes in our lives and move into action.  The final entrainment embodies the season of “Awaken” where we move into heart space and experience expansiveness, gratitude, joy, and acceptance to inspire us to be all that we can be in our lives. This Clear Day’s theme is “Get into Your Groove”.  Our theme is designed to help you learn more about what groove you are living in your life at this time, where you want to be and how to get into your groove and flow of your life day to day by living in the moment and being authentic with yourself and your life.    We want to help you find your groove and groove with your life and with others in a way that feels, effortless, fun and enlivening. If you would like to learn more or get involved please call our office at (416) 923-4325.  Come groove with...
